Jakarta City Council Chairman, Khoirudin invites all elements of society to make the Jakarta's 498th Anniversary celebration a momentum for reflection and new enthusiasm to build Jakarta into a global city that is inclusive, competitive, and remains rooted in local culture.

It was stated by him during the speech of Plenary Session of Jakarta's 498th Anniversary, Sunday (6/22).

"Let's make this moment a step to continue working, innovating, and contributing to the Jakarta progress," he said.

He then reviewed the long history of Jakarta which began from Sunda Kelapa Harbor and changed its name to Jayakarta in 1527, until it now has developed as a center of government, trade, and national culture.

According to him, Jakarta's future design should be inspired from this historical journey. It aims to remains resilient and adaptive to the challenges.

Khoirudin also appreciated various development programs that have been and are being implemented by Jakarta Provincial Government. Ranging from infrastructure development, improving public services, flood management, developing mass transportation, to expanding green open spaces.

"Jakarta's development must not only create physical progress, but also focus in improving social and economic welfare of its residents," he added.

He also touched on the importance of transparent and accountable governance, including in regional financial management.

Khoirudin expressed his appreciation to all ranks of Jakarta Provincial Government for achieving an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) for eight consecutive years.

Khoirudin assessed that the modernization of Jakarta must be in line with the preservation of cultural values, mutual cooperation spirit, and diversity.

"Jakarta's transition to a global city is not just about physical development, but also about preserving and strengthening its cultural identity," he continued.

As said in many occasions , Khoirudin emphasized the Jakarta City Council's commitment to remain collaborate with Jakarta Provincial Government in realizing just and based on society's interest development.

"Today's Jakarta success is the result of all hard work. Let's maintain this collaboration spirit for a better Jakarta's future," he stated.
